    Complementary Therapy has been a growing industry over the past 20 years being recognised for its involvement in maintaining good health and helping individual with varied disorders and stresses of life.

    Complementary has been recognised by the National Health Service and a lot of the treatments are offered by NHS.

    The course is a recognised qualification and enables you to practice as a therapist and enables you to get public liability insurance. The course is comprehensive in its delivery of both theory and practical elements. Within the course you will need to complete case studies, assignments and exams.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through assignment work, question papers and practical assessments
    The assessment process consists of Health & Safety/Anatomy & Physiology- external written exam.
    Your practical skills will be assessed within a salon environment.

    Each module requires you to complete differing amounts of case studies at home and within college. It is your responsibility to document, evidence and provide your own clients for these. Case studies are an invaluable way to see how each therapy works at aiding health & wellbeing.

  • How can I progress after this course?

    When you complete the Complementary Therapy Level 3, you have an opportunity to progress onto Foundation Degree in Complementary Therapy, or Sports Therapy Degree
  • What do I need to join the course?

    You need to show good communication skills and life skills.
    A good general education is essential for this demanding course
    and excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently.

    Additional costs to the course consist of professional uniform ( £29) and Aromatherapy Kit - Approx: £140

    The course begins in September and finishes in July.
    Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old. Related additional costs may include visits and extra external professional development courses, which are payable by all students.

    The Complementary industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Salon and attending college.

    No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed. Professional work wear will include a black tunic (approx. £29) and full smart full-length black trousers and black full shoes.
    You will purchase the stationary and Aromatherapy kit.

    As part of your practical assessments, you will perform practical treatments on clients. Learners will be equally responsible for providing clients and they will incur a college fee, with discounted rates for friends and family. You will be required to carry out treatments on clients, this is an awarding body requirements.

    You will be expected to have a minimum of 90% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor with medical evidence if there is more than one week of absence.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, please call our helpline on 01204 482 000.

Learners will not be able to enrol without this information. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance.
