What Do I Include In The Application Form?

When applying for a specific job at Bolton College, you will be asked to provide details of your skills, knowledge and experience relating to the role with appropriate examples.


If you have been unemployed, you may have gained the relevant skills through voluntary activities or other relevant experience.

I’ve Completed The Form, How Do I Send It Off?

Once you have completed your application form and feel happy with it, you can email it back to by clicking the apply button on the vacancy, this will email or you can post your application to:

What Happens Next?

Once we have received your application, it will be decided if you have met the requirements of the job.   • Because your answers reflect your achievements, skills and experiences within your professional life, competency based interviews provide reliable information about your ability in relation to essential areas of the job description.

How Do I Prepare For My Interview?

There are a number of things that you can do to prepare for your interview including:

  • Study the job description and person specification to identify the essential requirements of the role.
  • Think of 2 or 3 situations within the last 12-18 months where you have demonstrated a high level of achievement against some (or all) of the essential elements of the job.

In preparing your examples, think about each situation:

  •  How did it arise?
  •  What were the key stages?
  •  What was your personal contribution?
  •  What was the overall result?
  •  What did you learn from it?
