  • Overview of the course

    Derma planning is the newest skin rejuvenation treatment on the market today. Derma razor / planning is skin rejuvenation at its finest. It is better known as a luxury shave which removes all dead skin from the face and cleans the surface of the skin through exfoliation that tightens and firms. It also removes any unwanted light facial hair. Superficial exfoliation leaves the skin plump, rehydrated and smooth to touch.
    You'll learn the theory behind Derma planing, how to deal with clients and how to plan effective treatments. You will also learn how to reflect upon the outcomes of a treatment, provide aftercare and offer a series of treatments to achieve a desirable result. This in-depth Derma-planing study programme explores the Health and Safety relevant to the treatment, uses and effects of the procedures and you will be taught specific skills and techniques used to create this specialised process.
    The course is an ABT qualification. This enables you to practice as a therapist and supports the acquisition of public liability insurance. The course is comprehensive in its delivery of both theory and practical elements. Within the course you will need to complete case studies and assignments.

    You need to show good communication skills and life skills.
    A good general education is essential for this demanding course
    An excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently.
    Level 3 Qualification in Beauty Therapy or Media Make up.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through question papers and practical assessments. The assessment process consists of

    Your practical skills will be assessed within a salon environment.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    The Beauty Therapy industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Salon. No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed by the exam board. Professional work wear will include a black tunic (approx. ?29) and full smart full-length black trousers and black full shoes.

    As part of your practical assessments, you will perform practical treatments on clients. Learners will be equally responsible for providing clients and they will incur a college fee. You will be required to carry out treatments on clients, this is an awarding body requirements.

    You will be expected to have a minimum of 95% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor with medical evidence if there is more than one week of absence.

    When you complete the Derma planing course you have an opportunity to progress onto micro-needling, chemical peels which will open opportunities to work alongside medical practitioners .

    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, please call our helpline on 01204 482 000.

    Adult Learners

    Adult learners (19+) must bring their qualification certificates with them to enrolment. Learners will not be able to enrol without this information. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one you need):
    If you are unable to provide certificates you will be asked to complete a self declaration form when you enrol.
