Advanced Aromatherapy Level 4

This course enables you as a therapist to explore advanced techniques that can be used with varied chronic and end of life situations. The course will expand your knowledge with specific pathology disorders and the affects these have on the body. This qualification will give you the skills necessary to offer advanced treatments within industry implementing the techniques with varied disorders. This qualification is validated with the VTCT awarding body.

Complementary Therapy has been a growing industry over the past 20 years being recognised for its involvement in maintaining good health and helping individual with varied disorders and stresses of life.
This course will provide you with knowledge of the principles of Aromatherapy and how to practice Aromatherapy in a commercial setting. You'll learn the theory behind Aromatherapy, how to deal with clients and how to plan effective treatments. You will also learn how to reflect upon the outcomes of a treatment, provide aftercare and offer a series of treatments to achieve a desirable result. This in-depth Aromatherapy study programme explores the extraction, distillation and blending of thirty essential oils from plants, plus relevant massage movements. You will be taught specific Advanced Aromatherapy massage techniques, the art of creative blending and practical uses for each of the oils. Sourcing, extracting and distillation of plants, the benefits and contra-indications of Aromatherapy and client communication.

Complementary has been recognised by the National Health Service and a lot of the treatments are offered by NHS. The course is a QCF recognised qualification. This Diploma enables you to practice as a therapist and supports the acquisition of public liability insurance. The course is comprehensive in its delivery of both theory and practical elements, within this course you will need to complete case studies and assignments.

This course combines lectures, workshops, and independent research. Further areas of development consist of the following:

- Interpersonal Skills for the Complementary Therapy
- Anatomy, physiology and pathology
- Advance aromatherapy massage
- Principles of Yin and Yang
- Discuss 26 essential oils
- Discuss 10 carrier oils

You will of completed the level 3 in Aromatherapy. You need to show good communication skills and life skills. A good general education is essential for this demanding course and excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently. You should have:

- Completed a level 3 Aromatherapy qualification
- Additional supporting evidence will be taken into consideration.

You will be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.

Your assessment will be through written assignments, practical assessments, presentations and case studies, along with your reflective logs. Extensive use of practical case studies carried out within clinical practice. You will also compile a Professional Development Portfolio.

Additional costs to the course consist of professional uniform and aromatherapy kit.
Although the college endeavour to supply clients for the case studies, it is also the responsibility of the therapist to make sure that he/she fulfil the required hours of case study set by the awarding body. This is a one year part time course that is run over one day or an evening.

The course begins in September and finishes in July.
Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old, however this may change. Related additional costs may include visits and extra external professional development courses, which are payable by all students.

The Complementary industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Salon and attending college:
- No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed
- Professional work wear will include a black tunic and full smart full-length black trousers and black full shoes.

As part of your practical assessments, you will perform practical treatments on clients. Learners will be equally responsible for providing clients and they will incur a college fee, with discounted rates for friends and family. You will be required to carry out treatments on clients, this is an awarding body requirements.

You will be expected to have a minimum of 92% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor with medical evidence if there is more than one week of absence.

You can opt to pay these fees in monthly instalments. However, this is currently only possible by enrolling on campus.

When you complete the Aromatherapy Therapy Level 4, you have an opportunity to progress onto Sports Therapy/ Beauty Therapy. This qualification will give you the skills necessary to pursue a career at supervisory or managerial level in a health spa, in teaching, or in a clinical hospice setting.

Coronavirus Update

In response to the COVID-19 situation we have made a number of changes to our traditional admissions and enrolment processes.
Most conditional offers and enrolments are currently being processed based on the information available to us at the time of a telephone interview and/or online enrolment.
Once a course starts and we are able to meet with learners in person we may need to alter the class an individual attends if they do not meet the course entry requirements. We will keep learners informed of any decision to alter their class and support them through any changes necessary.

Assessment

All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

Financial

Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested.
