Our Computer Support and Maintenance courses are designed for people with a basic understanding of how a computer works and who want to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Units covered vary depending on the course studied, however you might find yourself learning about web development, installing operating system, installing and upgrading hardware, graphics design, maintenance and security.
Many of our IT courses are progressive, enabling students to enrol on to a higher level upon completion of their course or progress to our Access to Higher Education Diploma in Computing & ICT.
We have strong links with the University of Bolton, so there are many opportunities to progress to one of the many Computing programmes they offer, leading to a host of careers including Developer, Computer Installation Technician, Software Engineer or IT Advisor.

I’m re-training in IT after years spent as a Chef and I’m having a lot of fun! I think this course is brilliant for anyone interested in computer technology and maintenance. The course is very hands-on and I like the fact that I get to spend the day playing with computers, taking them apart and then putting them back together again. I’m looking to continue my study and do the Level 3 qualification next.
Michael Stokes – IT Support and Maintenance Level 2
I’m studying part-time to improve my skills and then hopefully get a job as an IT Technician. The course is very enjoyable and I’m enjoying learning the practical side of hardware and software. After completing the course I would like to try and secure a job in IT and possibly continue studying in the future too.
Hadi Elikhchi – IT Support Level 2
The course has given me the knowledge and practical skills that I need to gain employment in the IT sector in the future. Although I found the work challenging, the course was interesting and the tutors were always available to help and are really friendly. Completing the course has definitely opened my eyes and prepared me for the future of work.
Adelola Oluwatuyi – Computer Installation & Maintenance
I would definitely recommend the course to others because it’s very practical. We spend time in class actually building computers and fixing faults rather than just learning theory. I recently started a new job in IT Support and Sales and I’d like to go to University in the future to expand my knowledge even further.
