Our IMI Body & Refinishing courses are accredited by the UK’s only awarding body that is 100% focused on the automotive industry. We offer a rare opportunity to be trained in fully-equipped workshops by qualified staff with wide-ranging trade and industrial knowledge. Our courses enable learners to demonstrate their competence to carry out work to a national standard.
Our courses will teach you how to work safely and effectively, prepare and apply paint to a car, carry out body repairs and form and join materials, plus so much more.
Completion of our courses could lead to work as a Dent and Panel Repair Technician, Accident Repair Technician, Vehicle Refinisher or Vehicle Coach Builder.
We have strong links with the University of Bolton's new £13 million National Centre for Motorsport Engineering, a leading light in motorsport performance engineering. Our learners enjoy masterclasses within the Centre and there are clear progression routes from our motor vehicle courses to programmes delivered by the Centre, leading to a career as a motorsport engineer, vehicle technician or classic car restorer.

The apprenticeship has helped me get a head start on building a successful career in the motor industry. Because I’m learning in such a fast-paced working environment and I work alongside highly skilled mechanics every day, I’m constantly being challenged and motivated to improve my standards of work and get better at my job. I hope that I’ll be able to continue working at Boundary College once I finish my apprenticeship next year.

I completed my apprenticeship at Boundary Garage in Bury and it’s been a really positive experience, I prefer working to being in a classroom and being paid while learning and getting my qualifications has been a big bonus. Now that my apprenticeship has finished, Boundary Garage have taken me on as a permanent member of staff in recognition of my hard work and achievements.
