Overview of the course
Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options. Learning skills and techniques from our expert teaching staff, you’ll soon progress. You could progress into employment or further their studies by taking other qualifications at Level 3.
What you'll learn
Your study programme will cover areas including:
• Principles of practice for Beauty Therapists
• Hair removal treatments
• Facial and skin analysis
• Manicure treatments
• Pedicure treatments
• Light cured gel polish
• Lash and brow treatments
• Apply make-up services
• 30 hour external work placement
our programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
• English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
• Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work)
• Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
• Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills.
You will need to have gained at least four GCSE Grades at Grade 4 or above including English and Maths
How will I be assessed?
Externally marked exam:
The exam is externally set and externally marked and can be taken either online through City & Guilds’ computer-based testing platform, or as a paper based test.
The exam is designed to assess the candidate’s depth and breadth of understanding across content in the qualification at the end of the period of learning, using a range of question types and will be sat under invigilated examination conditions.
The synoptic assignment is externally set, internally marked and externally moderated. Candidates will be judged against the assessment objectives.

• Receive training from industry professionals, such as Ellisons, Studex, St. Tropez, Dermalogica and Eve Taylor
• The annual Beauty Showcase, where you can display your creative and technical skills
• Opportunity to raise money for charity through offering treatments to the public
As part of our Pre-Professionals Programme, you’ll have your own personal Learning Development Mentor and Careers Coach. They’ll help you to manage your studies, oversee your progress and aid in your personal development.
You’ll also benefit from quality work experience and industry placements, ensuring that you’re ready for the world of work.
You could also benefit from getting involved in volunteering opportunities, both locally and abroad, and youth social action projects, perfect for enhancing your CV.
