Business BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3

Full-Time Study Programmes

  • Overview of the course

    Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.

    There are three pathways to choose from on this programme:

    Business Management

    This course has been designed to introduce you to the world of business. You will study pathways including Business Administration, Business Enterprise and Working Effectively in Business.
    As part of the programme you will investigate business practices and create business ideas, as well as develop essential business and administrative skills.

    Event Management

    This course has been designed to introduce you to the world of Event Management. You will study through the Level 3 BTEC Business programme, following an Events Management pathway.
    As part of the programme you will investigate event management practices and create and manage your own events, demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities.

    Law

    This course has been designed to introduce you to the world of business. You will study through the Level 3 BTEC Business programme, following a law pathway. As part of the programme you will cover business resources and learn to understand law making.

    Work experience is also an integral part of all our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.
  • What you'll learn

    This course has been designed to cover all aspects of the business spectrum, ensuring you have a good understanding of all things business as well as allowing you to identify areas of specialism.

    The course is delivered over two years. In Year 1 you will study for your 90 Credit Diploma (equivalent to 1 1/2 A-Levels) and study units including:
    • The Business Environment
    • Business Resources
    • Introduction to Marketing
    • Business Communication
    • Recruitment & Selection in Business
    • Business Accounting

    On successful completion of the 90 Credit Diploma, you will progress on to the full Extended Diploma programme (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) and study units including:
    • ICT in Business
    • Managing a Business Event
    • Developing Teams in Business
    • Starting a Small Business
    • Business & Ethics
    • Law

    We encourage our students to continue their English & Maths study to Level 3
  • Entry requirements

    We ask that you have four GCSEs grades 8-4 (A-C), including English and Maths, or a Merit-grade BTEC Extended Certificate Level 2. We will also invite you to attend an informal interview and provide a satisfactory school reference.
  • How will I be assessed?

    For each unit you will complete a number of assignments and activities. These will include a mixture of:

    • Written reports
    • Professional discussions

    • Practical activities

  • Future opportunities

    After you have completed the course you could progress on to a higher education course at college or university, or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4).

    Following further study you could work as:
    • A Management Consultant where you can earn between £25,000 and £30,000 a year, depending on experience.
    • An Office Manager, where you can earn between £20,000 and £30,000 a year.
    • A HR Officer, earning between £18,000 and £25,000, with Managers earning up to £48,000.
