  • Overview of the course

    The aim of this qualification is to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education's (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.
  • What you'll learn

    You will be studying a variety of topics which include:
    - Support physical care routines for children
    - An introduction to the role of the early years practitioner
    - Understand how to work in partnership
    - Supporting children's play
    - Support children's positive behaviour

    You will also need to attend a work placement and gain 250 hours experience across the academic year. By doing this, you will gain hands on practical experience equipping you with the skills to become an Early Years Practitioner.
  • Entry requirements

    You will need 4 GCSE's grades 9-3 (A-D) including Maths and English Language.
  • How will I be assessed?

    All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.

    Some learning outcomes within this qualification will require assessment in a Real Work Environment. This means you will be observed in the workplace by a qualified assessor.

  • Future opportunities

    On successful completion of the qualification you could remain in College and apply to the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (EYE) or the CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce.

    Alternatively you can enter the workforce as an Early Years Practitioner.
