Overview of the course
Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
This programme is the first step to gaining a qualification in the brickwork trade. It is full-time and runs over three days per week. It is a mix of practical and theory sessions.
You will be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace.
Work experience is also an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.
What you'll learn
You will learn the basic elements of brickwork.
If you have previously completed some brickwork, we will assess your skills and put you on the appropriate programme to help you progress.
If required for your chosen career or HE course, you may wish to study English & maths to Level 3.
Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
• English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
• Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work)
• Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
• Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills)
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by a fully qualified brickwork assessor, who will coach and train you. Upon completion, you will have the choice to progress to a higher level.
Progression will require completion of all aspects of the course, at least 95% attendance and punctuality.
