    Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.

    This qualification enables you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electro-technology sector.

    You will be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace.

    Work experience is also an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.
  • What you'll learn

    The course covers many areas within electro-technical technology, with units including:
    • Principles of Electrical Science
    • Electrical Installation Technology
    • Health & Safety within Building Services
    • Basic Practical Skills

    If required for your chosen career or HE course, you may wish to study English & maths to Level 3.

    Elements of study

    Your programme consists of the following elements:
    • Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
    • English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
    • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work)
    • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
    • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills)
  • Entry requirements

    You will need Electrical Diploma Level 1 or GCSEs in English, maths and Science at grade 4 or above.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through multiple-choice tests and written and practical assignments.

  • Future opportunities

    If you choose to look for paid work you could opt for an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship and work as an Apprentice Electrical Engineer.

    Following further study you could work as:
    • An Electrician, earning between£18,000 and £42,000 a year, depending on experience
    • An Electrical Engineer, earning between £21,000 and£45,000 a year
    • A Building Services Engineer, earning between
    £20,000 and £50,000 a year, depending on experience
  • Enrichment

    During the course we will conduct various site visits looking at real-time construction projects and understanding the ins and outs of Electrical installations and all things site-based

    • We liaise closely with Willmott Dixon and other large contractors for site visits
    • You will be expected you do work placements that are industry specific
    • We also offer other enrichment plans such as trips and exciting activities
  • Pre-Professionals Programme

    As part of our Pre-Professionals Programme, you’ll have your own personal Learning Development Mentor and Careers Coach. They’ll help you to manage your studies, oversee your progress and aid in your personal development.

    You’ll also benefit from quality work experience and industry placements, ensuring that you’re ready for the world of work.

    You could also benefit from getting involved in volunteering opportunities, both locally and abroad, and youth social action projects, perfect for enhancing your CV.
