Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
This course gives you the skills needed to progress to a higher level of training in Plumbing. You will be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace.
Work experience is also an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.

If required for your chosen career or HE course, you may wish to study English & maths to Level 3.
Elements of Study
Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
• English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
• Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work)
• Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
• Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills)
To apply for this course you’ll need to pass the BPEC Assessment. You also need to have a GCSE grade 3 in both English and maths.
We’ll also ask you to come for an interview and provide a satisfactory school reference.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed by competence testing and by taking an exam.

After you have completed the course you could progress onto Plumbing Level 2 or choose to look for paid work. You could opt for a Plumbing Apprenticeship and work as an Apprentice Plumber.

Following further study you could work as:
• A Plumber, earning between £16,000 and £40,000, depending on experience.
• A Kitchen and Bathroom Fitter, earning between £15,000 and £35,000 a year.
• A Handyperson, earning between £14,000 and £23,000 a year.
During the course we will conduct various site visits looking at real-time construction projects and understanding the various elements of plumbing and all things site based.
• We liaise closely with Willmott Dixon and other large contractors for site visits
• You will undertake industry specific work placements
• We also offer a wide range of enrichment activities including sports and trips.
As part of our Pre-Professionals Programme, you’ll have your own personal Learning Development Mentor and Careers Coach. They’ll help you to manage your studies, oversee your progress and aid in your personal development.
You’ll also benefit from quality work experience and industry placements, ensuring that you’re ready for the world of work.
You could also benefit from getting involved in volunteering opportunities, both locally and abroad, and youth social action projects, perfect for enhancing your CV.
