P2L2 (Progress to Level 2)

  • Overview of the course

    P2L2 is a course aimed at learners who have completed a Level 1 vocational course such as Motor Vehicle, Hair, Beauty or Brickwork but who are not yet able to progress to their chosen Level 2 vocational course.

    Learners demonstrate their commitment and ability to gain a Level 2 qualification. An extended work placement forms a significant part of the course, and there is access to fun and informative enrichment activities.

    The structure of this course is as follows:

    • Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Further Learning and Employment
    • An extended work experience placement
    • English
    • Maths
    • Tutorial
    • Enrichment

    Learners will work towards a Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Further Learning and Employment comprised of the following units:

    • Developing Interpersonal Skills
    • Building and managing relationships at work
    • Interview Skills
    • Coaching Skills
    • Recognising leadership
    • Building a team
    • Managing a project

    Extended work placements are negotiated and planned with careers coaches in Term 1. An initial work experience placement occurs in Term 1. For most learners a longer work experience placement occurs in Terms 2 and 3.

    During tutorials learners will attend sessions covering topics on enterprise, citizenship, personal development and progression. These sessions focus on topics which are relevant to young people and will help them to progress through their study.

    A passport to Level 2 points system is in place which supports learners to demonstrate the skills necessary to progress to their chose Level 2 vocational course.

    A Level 1 qualification or non-accredited achievement in Employability Skills.
  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment is on-going throughout the course and learners will receive timely and detailed feedback from tutors on work completed. Learners will work towards end of year exams in maths and English alongside the Certificate in Skills for Further Learning and Employment which is an evidence-based portfolio qualification.
