Overview of the course
This course helps learners develop their employability skills and is a great introduction to the different vocational options available at Bolton College. The course has been designed for learners with learning difficulties and or disabilities assessed at Entry Level.
Learners will work towards an Entry Level 2 award in employability skills as well as maths, English and enterprise. Learners will also attend a work placement and take part in enrichment activities throughout the year.
What you'll learn
Prior to any work commencing on this course, learners take part in a full college induction programme.
During tutorials, learners will attend sessions covering topics on enterprise, citizenship, personal development and progression. These sessions focus on topics relevant to young people that will help them to progress through their study.
As part of their Entry Level 2 award in employability skills learners will cover the following units:
• Planning for progression
• Developing own teamwork skills
• Searching for a job
Learners will work towards their next level of English and maths as part of the course and attend enterprise sessions. Learners will also attend a work placement and take part in enrichment activities throughout the year.
Learners will attend vocational tasters on a Friday and have the choice of tasters in the following areas:
• Art and Media
• Business and IT
• Health & Social Care
• Motor Vehicle
• Painting & Decorating
• Performing Arts
There are no entry requirements other than an interest and a commitment however, you need to attend all of your classes.
How will I be assessed?
Learners will be assessed by the tutor and support workers, observing learners completing tasks either independently or with support. Staff will question learners to check understanding and recall and to encourage choice making. All learners will build a portfolio of evidence to achieve their qualification.
