    Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
    Can you picture yourself on the stage, the screen or even behind the camera? If you are a creative and committed individual, our performing arts courses will help you to break into this competitive industry.

    This course will enable you to explore the wide variety of careers available in the Performing Arts industry. You will participate in a range of activities with local theatres and industry professionals and will have further opportunities to develop experience in a technical theatre, arts education and customer service roles. You will be encouraged to develop your own creative interests and shape your own performances.
    Work experience is an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.

    • Improvisation & Comedy
    • TV & Radio Drama
    • Dance Styles
    • Technical Theatre

    As part of your programme of study, you will also be given the opportunity to complete a Silver Arts Award. This qualification is highly valued in the Performing Arts Industry and an opportunity to develop your own arts and leadership talents.
    We encourage our students to continue their English & Maths study to Level 3.

    Your programme consists of the following elements:
    • Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
    • English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
    • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work)
    • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
    • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills).
  • Entry requirements

    We ask that you have four GCSEs at grades 9-2 (A*–E), including at least a grade 3 (D) in English. You will also be invited to attend an audition/interview.
  • How will I be assessed?

    There’ll be continuous assessment throughout the course; this will cover your public performance, your written projects and written log books. The majority of your work will be assessed by your tutors, although your final performances will be marked by an external assessor and there will be a written exam at the end of the year.

  • Future opportunities

    After you have completed the course you could remain in College and progress on to the Performing Arts BTEC 90 credit Diploma Level 3.

    Following further study you could work as a:
    • Actor, entertainer or presenter and you could earn an average of around £34,000 per year depending on experience and role.
    • A Stage Manager, earning between £18,000 and £45,000 a year.
    • A Choreographer, with your salary dependent on experience, reputation and the production you’re working on.
    • A Lighting Technician, where you could earn up to £27,000 a year, depending on experience.
