    This course is designed for learners who want to progress from Level 4 Beauty on to a Level 5 Micro-needling qualification. Learners will further develop their skills to allow them to specialise in an advanced facial procedure, giving them the opportunity to be at the forefront of their careers.

  • What you'll learn

    Derma-Planing is a cosmetic treatment which is a deeper method of exfoliation that consists of using a scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. It will also remove the fine vellus hairs creating radiant looking skin. Excellent treatment when combined with chemical peels or Collagen Induction Therapy (micro-needling).
  • Entry requirements

    You will need Beauty Therapy Level 4 or Level 3 in employment. Learners must also demonstrate a commitment to learning and have the appropriate life skills. Good dexterity skills are paramount and these will be tested via a skills test. You will need to enjoy working with other people and co-operate as part of a team. You will also need to be committed and keen to practice. Entry is decided through a personal interview.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed via practical assessment and assignments. All your assessments will be graded pass, merit or distinction.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    The course lasts eight weeks and will run twice throughout the year. The Beauty industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards when working in the Beauty Salon. No Jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed by the exam board. Professional work wear will include a black tunic (approx. £30), smart full-length black trousers and black full-toe shoes. There will be the option to purchase kits; this can be discussed at interview. You will be expected to have a minimum of 90% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor. Medical evidence will be required if there is more than one week of absence.
