Hospitality Level 1 Award

This punchy course, packed with highly interesting topics, is designed to give students the opportunity to develop an understanding of the catering and hospitality industry, the job roles and progression opportunities within it. There will also be an opportunity to visit either a hotel or a high profile restaurant to have a peek behind the scenes.

The course content will cover the following units
• Introduction to Catering and Hospitality Industry
• Interpersonal Skills
• Preparation for Work

You need a willingness to learn and a strong desire to seek work. You also need to come to college with a good attitude and be prepared to work hard. You must be over 19 years of age.

You will build up a portfolio folder of work which shows the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. The work you produce will provide evidence of the units delivered. You will also receive supportive feedback throughout the course and will be given the opportunity to talk to your tutor and review your work.

A ring binder folder to keep your work organised is essential.

You can progress onto Food Safety L2, Customer Service Skills L1/L2 or a range of other employability courses. Free English and maths courses are available to all leaners who do not hold a current GCSE at grade C or above. Free Computers for Beginners courses are available for learners with no or very low computer user skills.

Assessment

All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

Financial

Adult Learners

Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance.
