    If you are aged 19+ and have a keen interest in hairdressing with a desire to achieve a professional qualification, then this fast moving intensive hairdressing course is for you.
    This course is delivered at our Hub centre at Deane & Derby CLC.

  • What you'll learn

    The course consists of both practical and theory aspects of hairdressing and make up. You will study/learn a variety of topics related to hairdressing, The range of topics and the units of study include the following :
    • Personal presentation
    • Hair up
    • Use of a variety of electricals
    You will also develop skills in setting, styling and maintaining health and safety.
  • Entry requirements

    You should be highly motivated, have good dexterity skills and be able to work well as part of a team. You must show commitment to the course and be able to maintain an excellent level of attendance and punctuality.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will agree an individual learning plan (ILP) with your tutor identifying what you want and need to gain from the course. You will build up a folder of work which shows the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. You will receive supportive feedback throughout the course and track your progress through your Individual Learning Plan.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    This course is part-time for 19+ learners, who must attend 3 hours per week for the number of weeks mentioned.

    You are required to wear black trousers, black top and flat black shoes, we will provide all tools and equipment for the duration of the course.

    You can progress onto further courses in Hairdressing, Make Up or Beauty Therapy. There are also other income generation courses that would be very exciting to attend including Fast Track Certificate in Hairdressing and Level 2 Barbering.
    You can progress onto a Level 1 accredited course within the community to increase upon your knowledge and skills.

    * Free English and maths courses for those who have not yet attained a grade at C at GCSE (grade 4 equivalent)
    * Free digital literacy courses for beginners in computing and tablets
    * Free positive steps to wellbeing courses to support improved mental wellbeing, health and confidence

    Information, advice and guidance is available at all Bolton College centres. Our Adult Community Learning Job Coach is available to support learners who are seeking employment

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
