    If you enjoy solving complex problems; love working with your hands; and are passionate about vehicles then this T Level could be for you!

    With 38.6 million vehicles licensed in the UK, there’s always a need for vehicle professionals and this programme will give you the skills to excel – you’ll gain an understanding of the primary and auxiliary systems of a variety of vehicles, learning in our high-spec STEM Centre.

    Equivalent to three A Levels, this two-year programme has also been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, so you can rest assured that that the content is relevant and up to date.

    You’ll spend 20% of your time on an industry placement, giving you vital experience in the world of work and a CV to wow future employers.

    Your employer may also provide you with that invaluable first reference, whilst a number of our students have also been offered full-time contracts following successful Industry Placements.
  • What you'll learn

    You’ll develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

    • Working within the engineering and manufacturing sectors, developing an understanding of how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products.
    • Essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing.
    • Understanding materials and their properties, including processing techniques and their effects on materials and material quality; the condition of materials; how these are managed; and materials testing methods and techniques.
    • The basic principles of business, commercial and financial awareness, including commercial priorities and markets, customers/clients/partners and resource allocation.

    In addition to the core content, you’ll also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content:

    • Maintenance Engineering Technologies: Mechanical
    • Maintenance, Installation & Repair: Light & Electric Vehicles

    On your Industry Placement, you’ll work alongside professionals in the Engineering & Manufacturing sector, possibly working on a real-life engineering project. You’ll gain a unique insight into your future career and the different specialisms that you would work towards.

    You’ll be assessed via a mixture of assignments, employer-set projects and externally set exam(s).
  • Future opportunities

    The sole purpose of a T Level is to prepare you for employment and a dynamic career. Due to the broad range of topics covered on this T Level, you’ll be equipped for a career in a variety of sectors.
    You could work as a:

    • Automation & Innovation Engineer, possessing a broad knowledge of business processes and emerging technology solutions, earning up to £50,000 per year.
    • Automotive Vehicle Technician, possessing a broad knowledge of maintenance, repair and installation skills associated with the safe maintenance and diagnostic analysis with present and emerging new technology like hybrid and electric vehicles, earning up to £35,000 per year.
    • Automotive Engineer within an assembly plant facility, ensuring that products are planned, designed and built efficiently and to a budget, earning up to £35,000 per year.

    As the T Level is equivalent to three A Levels, you could even decide to progress to university or a paid Apprenticeship, if you choose.
