Football ace Jack Foxley is flying high after securing a Soccer Scholarship in the USA.

The Bolton College sports student, who plays for Bolton Wanderers Community Trust’s ‘Wanderers Soccer School’s Elite Development Squad’, has signed with sports recruitment experts FiveZero, following a trial at the Eddie Davies Academy.

FiveZero will now support Jack, 16, as he decides which USA college team to play for – he has numerous sporting factors to consider, including the quality of the team, their results history and the likelihood of playing regularly.

The College’s partnership with Bolton Wanderers Community Trust means that Jack, who plays right back, was well-prepared for his trial with FiveZero; he trains for five days a week at the Eddie Davies Academy, plays in competitive leagues and competes in regional and national competitions.

Thanks to the time he spends at Bolton College’s Deane Road Campus, which is part of the University of Bolton Group, Jack will also walk away with a BTEC Level 3 in Sport on completion of his course.

Jack said: “I’m so excited about playing in the USA, it’s an amazing opportunity. I’d love to sign for somewhere with lots of sights, so that there’s plenty to experience and my family can come and visit.

“I’ve had so much support and encouragement from the College and Bolton Wanderers Community Trust; my coaches Dave Walton and Sam Redshaw have been fantastic.

“It was also really good of Emma Beaugeard, the CEO of Bolton Wanderers and Phil Mason, Head of the Community Trust, to come down to the ground and congratulate me.”

Mike Bruns, Bolton College’s Sports & Public Services Curriculum Leader, said: “I’m very pleased for Jack, he’s a fantastic player and brilliant in the classroom, so his scholarship is well deserved.”

Emma Beaugeard, Chief Executive Officer at Bolton Wanderers said: “It was a pleasure to meet Jack and hear of his passion for football. Playing for a college team in the United States is a very exciting opportunity for him and we wish him every success for the future.”

Phil Mason, Head of the Community Trust, said: “It is a real delight to see Jack doing so well and a big congratulations to him on what he has achieved. This is what the partnership between the Community Trust and the College, as part of the University Group, is all about. It is a partnership that has started strong and is set to grow, giving opportunities for young people like Jack to realise their ambitions in life.”
