Bolton College has been successful in reaching the AoC Beacon Standard and Commended Status.

The College has been shortlisted in The NOCN Group Award for Mental Health and Wellbeing for its project with key stakeholders Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit (VRU); Greater Manchester Police; Greater Manchester Combined Authority; and Police Scotland.

A shared vision and commitment to equipping local people with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to keep themselves and their families safe from harm, particularly harm from sexual harassment and abusive relationships, saw the stakeholders working together to raise awareness of this important topic.

In College, this resulted in a new approach to resources and tutorials dealing with the subject which engaged students of all ages and backgrounds and allowed delivery staff the freedom to adapt resources to their context, as well as upskilling and supporting staff to be confident when dealing with such a sensitive subject. You can read more about the project here.

The next stage will be the announcement of the Beacon finalists for each award category on Tuesday 15th November during the AoC Annual Conference.
