College Bursaries

There are a number of ways we can help students who are struggling financially, including discretionary bursaries and travel passes.

 

Guaranteed Bursaries

These are available to young people who are:

  • Aged between 16-18 on the 31st August

  • Studying a college course at Level 3 or lower

  • On a course within the current college year

& Who are one of the following:

  • In care or a care leaver

  • In receipt of Income Support or Universal Credit

  • In receipt of Employment Support Allowance and either Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments (PIP)

Learners will receive up to £1,200, paid in weekly installments throughout their 36 week course. Payments are based on a good attendance record at College.

Discretionary Bursaries

These are available to young people who are:

  • Aged 16-18 on the 31st August

  • Studying a college course at Level 3 or lower

  • On a course within the current college year

& Who:

  • Are struggling to meet the costs of attending college

  • Come from a home which has a combined annual gross income of under £20,000 

 

Qualifying students who are eligible for either of the bursaries receive assistance with travel costs if they live more than two kilometres away from College, essential equipment costs, and payments in emergency circumstances.
