I started at Entry Level but I've progressed so quickly that I'm fast-tracking to Level 3 next year! I really like working in Signature Restaurant and chatting to the customers.
Catering & Hospitality NVQ Level 1, Holly Glendening - studied at Mount St Joseph's School
I've just come to the end of my one-year Apprenticeship at Bolton Whites Hotel and am now qualified as a Commis Chef. Most employers ask for genuine kitchen experience, so an Apprenticeship seemed like the smartest route to take. The authentic industry knowledge is priceless and you get a qualification along with a salary, so it was a no-brainer!
Food Preparation & Cooking Apprenticeship Level 2, Josh Beard - former Bury College student
I wanted to study Catering here after my school arranged for me to complete a 10-week work experience placement in the college kitchens - I really enjoyed it! I have autism and through the support of my mentor this course has really helped me to come out of my shell. I've particularly enjoyed interacting with customers and making new friends.
Catering & Hospitality NVQ Level 2, Nathan Birchall, 'Student of the Year for Business Services & Hospitality' - studied at Thornleigh Salesian College
If catering is your thing and you have a flair for food, this programme is the way to go! Every student is pushed to their own personal limits and I’ve been encouraged to push past mine constantly. This helped me to win the Mayor’s Ball Dessert Competition at the Macron Stadium.
Leon Rose, Catering & Hospitality NVQ Level 2 - studied at Harper Green School
