BTEC Foundation National Diploma in Health and Social Care

  • Overview of the course

    gg Working within the Health and Social Care sector you need to be kind, caring and compassionate. The level 3 BTEC course provides you with the knowledge and understanding you will need to thrive in a Health and Social Care based career. This course is designed to provide a holistic programme of applied and general learning related to the occupational areas of Health Care and Social Care.
    On completion of the programme you will have the option of progressing to further or higher study, choosing from a range of specialisms, or finding employment.
    Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector through work experience and enrichment workshops.
  • What you'll learn

    You will look into a range of different units such as Human Growth and development and Meeting Individual Care Needs, you will explore opportunities to promote Equality and Diversity through knowledge and skills and analyse the human body and its functions in Anatomy and Physiology. You will delve into a research project, focusing on your chosen topic and explore the growth and development of Public Health.

    Five GCSE’s at grade 9 – 4, including English, Maths and preferably Science

    You will be internally assessed through internal assignments, external assessments, research projects, presentations and practical work alongside work experience.
  • Future opportunities

    Following further study you could work as a:



    • Midwife, earning up to £44,000 per year
    • Physiotherapist, earning up to £44,000 per year

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):

The proportion of these hours will depend on the individual qualification(s) being undertaken. You must do the work set during these times or it will impact your progress on the course and therefore your achievement.
