Pre-Access to HE Level 2 for Teaching & Education Professions, Social Sciences or Social Work: Skills for Further Learning & Employment

This qualification will help you to recognise your personal growth and engagement in learning. It will also help you to recognise your development of knowledge and/or skills to operate independently and effectively in life, learning and work

Pre-Access to HE is a well-established national qualification which allows students without traditional Level 2 qualifications to work towards the Level 2 Certificate, and progress to the Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma the following year, which may lead to entry into university.

This is a one year, part-time course delivered one day a week. This will help you work towards achieving the qualifications you need to gain entry to a degree course at university in subjects such as Sociology, Social Policy & Psychology. You will also undertake other topics such as Communication Skills and Working in Groups.

You must have a Level 1 Functional Skills qualification in maths/English or be working towards this along side the course. You will need Level 2 Functional Skills/GCSE qualifications to progress to Access to HE Level 3 after this course.

You will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence set and marked by the education provider and externally quality assured by Open Awards. The portfolio should provide sufficient evidence that you have the required knowledge, skills and understanding of the assessment criteria and that it is your own work.

a) Observation of performance
b) Questioning (written or oral)
c) Practical Activities
d) Photographs or videos
e) Personal statements
f) Project work
g) Witness testimonies
h) Group discussion
i) Recognition of Prior Learning

All learners will be assessed at the start of the course to ensure the course is suitable for them.

Assessment

All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

Financial

Adult Learners

Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested.
