Clothes Making Certificate Level 2

    If you’re creative and would like to learn how to design and make your own unique pieces, then this is the course for you. Learning from experienced tutors, you will build your technical skills through exploring a variety of fabrics and getting to grips with a range of garment construction techniques.
  • What you'll learn

    The course will cover:

    Production techniques in clothes making

    You will: extend and further develop skills
    - Extend your knowledge and understanding of the clothes making process
    - Develop an awareness of the enterprise skills afforded by clothes making
    - Investigate creative enterprise and employment opportunities in the creative sector
    - Extend your understanding of health and safety issues regarding clothes making
    - Develop an awareness of the opportunities for progression onto further study.

    The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
    - Use raw materials, tools and equipment in a safe and competent manner
    - Develop analytical and research skills
    - Evaluate own work, develop ideas and learning through the clothes making process
    - Develop an understanding of health and safety considerations in the craft environment.

    - Learn how to communicate your ideas
    - Develop your visual recording skills
    - Explore the properties and characteristics of fabrics
    - Learn about a range of clothes making equipment and production methods
    - Develop your sewing machine skills

    Along with your technical sample file, you will produce a finished garment.
  • Entry requirements

    You will need:

    - English and Maths at GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent)
    - Basic experience of machine and hand sewing
    - A strong interest in art, design and fashion
    - Some evidence of clothes making skills in the form of previous work

    You will be formally assessed throughout the course and given written and verbal feedback.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
