    The units you will cover include: 201- Working In Beauty Related Industries, 202- Health & Safety, 203- Client Care and Communication Skills, 204- Facials, 205- Promote Products 7 Services, 206- Waxing 207-Manicures, 208-Pedicures, 209-Make-Up, 210- Eye treatments 212-Create An Image, 216-Reception Duties. You will perform treatments on other learners to practice your skills via peer assessment and you will then perform assessments on clients in a real salon working environment.

    Learners must demonstrate a commitment to learn and have the appropriate life skills.

    You will need
    • References where necessary and appropriate.
    • Over 19 year old - life skills, work skills and a commitment to becoming a therapist.
    • You will need an excellent work ethic and commitment to high attendance of 95% and excellent punctuality standards.
    • You will need to be professional and discreet in all circumstances.

    Good dexterity skills are paramount and these will be tested via a skills test. You will need to enjoy working with other people and co-operate as part of a team.

    You need to be committed and keen to practice as you learn new skills and be willing to work within a team and on clients within a real working environment. Entry is through a personal interview and via suitable references where necessary and appropriate.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed while working in the college salons on real clients. The practical tasks are assessed and your achievements will be recorded in your logbook. You will carry out and complete pre-observations then a final assessment in each practical unit. There are written tests and oral questions to assess knowledge and assignment work for certain aspects of the course. Records of all the work undertaken should be kept to provide evidence of competence. These will form the basis of your portfolio. The practical assessments will be graded pass, merit or distinction.

    Related additional costs may include visits and extra external professional development courses, which are payable by all students.

    The Beauty industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Beauty Salon.

    No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed by the exam board. Professional work wear will include a black tunic and full smart full-length black trousers and black full shoes. You will need to purchase the stationery, file kits, a Make-up, Beauty & Nail kit in order to carry out practical application and to build upon your skills. Fees apply.

    As part of your practical assessments, you will perform practical treatments on clients. Learners will be equally responsible for providing clients and they will incur a college fee, with discounted rates for friends and family.

    You will be required to carry out treatments on clients, this is an awarding body requirement.
    You will be expected to have a minimum of 95% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor with medical evidence if there is more than one week of absence.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance.
