    In addition to training in our impressive production kitchens, there are plenty of opportunities for budding Chefs to gain professional experience working in the College’s restaurants and cafés, and to learn from distinguished resident and visiting professionals.

    This Level 3 qualification is specifically designed for those that are working in the industry but are looking to upskill to progress their careers. The course is delivered by highly trained and experienced chefs that have national and international experience.

  • Entry requirements

    There is a set criteria and interview process for this course. We ask that you have completed up to NVQ Level 2 in both Food Preparation & Cooking and Food Service. You must also have worked in the catering and hospitality trade for at least one year, on either a full or part-time basis.

    You will be assessed by externally set and marked multiple choice question papers and individual practical tests.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    This course will develop your professional cookery skills to a high level. All food, materials and resources are provided for by the college. You will be required to wear professional Chef whites in the kitchens.

    After you have completed the course you could progress on to a Higher Education Course at college or university, or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4).

    Following further study you could work as:
    • A Kitchen Manager where you could earn up to
    £35,000 a year, depending on your experience.
    • A Chef de Partie, earning £19,000 per year
