    This course is ideal if you are looking to follow a career path in catering and hospitality. You will be able to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment in the catering & hospitality sector. Many of our learners come to study with us because they get to work in one of the best facilities in the country with our state of the art production kitchens and restaurant. You will work in a realistic working environment that allows you to cook for the public. We have a very experienced skilled team of lecturers who are industry trained who will help you to succeed and prepare you for employment in your chosen career. Learners from Bolton College have gone on to find employment at Nicks Restaurant, The Victoria Inn, The Lowry Hotel and Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club.
  • What you'll learn

    You will develop your skills in preparing and cooking: - Meat - Fish - Vegetables - Soups - Desserts - Sauces. You will also complete units in Food Safety, Health & Safety and Teamwork. You will learn practical skills in both the production kitchen and training classes.
  • Entry requirements

    You will need a minimum of Entry Level 3 in English & Maths. You will also be invited in for an interview.
  • How will I be assessed?

    This course is structured into units that include the following:
    - On-going assessments throughout the year.
    - At the end of each unit there is a multi-choice test.

    You will be expected to wear a uniform and safety shoes, which we will provide depending on your personal circumstances.

    After you have successfully completed this course you could progress onto a NVQ Level 2 Food Preparation and Cooking. Alternatively, if you are keen to start earning you could look for various job roles within the catering and hospitality industry.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
