Early Years Workforce Diploma (Early Years Educator) Level 3

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce prepares you to become an Early Years Educator, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. This course is delivered part time for learners aged 19 years and above, leading to a nationally recognised qualification for working with children. You will need to attend a work placement for a minimum of 350 hours in an early years setting where you will be required to carry out activities with children and demonstrate your skills. You will also be provided with directed study to complete at home as well as attend weekly sessions at Bolton College. Your course tutor will support you throughout the course.

Learners will complete multiple units following 4 themes: Health and well-being; Understand legislation, frameworks and professional practice; Play, development and learning for school readiness and Professional development. All units need to be completed to achieve the Diploma.

Level 2 CCLD/CYPW/Early Years Practitioner and/or GCSE English and Maths Grade C/4 or above.
Applicants must have substantial experience of working with children in a group situation and show a real desire and commitment to work with children. You will also need to arrange your own work placement to attend for a minimum of two days a week and bring confirmation of this on your first day. This must be in an early years setting that cares for children from birth to five years. You will need to attend a planned session in the college prior to the course start date to apply for a DBS disclosure.

Assessment is a combination of direct observation within a workplace, portfolio of evidence and written assignments. You will need to be working/volunteering in an early years setting. Work placement hours must include working with 0-1 year 11 months, 2-2 years 11 months and 3-5 years. A longitudinal study will also be completed to observe, assess and plan for the needs of children. You must obtain a minimum of 350 work placement hours in total.

You will also need to arrange your own work placement to attend for a minimum of two days a week and bring confirmation of this on your first day. You will need to attend a planned session in the college prior to the course start date to apply for a DBS disclosure. This is a fast paced course where you will need to be organised and comply with assignment submission dates - our course tutors are there to help and support you through this.

On successful completion of the course learners may be able to progress onto the Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner. Alternatively you can progress on to a Foundation Degree (Early Years Childhood Studies), whilst others may gain employment as a qualified Early Years Educator, in a variety of childcare settings, such as, nurseries, schools, children’s centres and hospitals or as a Childminder.

Assessment

All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

Financial

Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested.
