Barbering Fast Track VRQ Level 2 City and Guilds Certificate

If you are aged 19+ and have a keen interest in barbering with a desire to achieve a professional qualification, then this fast moving intensive barbering course is for you!

This course is delivered in our fabulous state-of-the-art Hairdressing and Barbering studios, The Academy, at our Deane Road campus.

The course consists of both practical and theoretical aspects of barbering. You will study a variety of topics related to barbering, including:

- Working in the hair industry
- Maintaining health and safety in the salon
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- Styling men's hair
- Cutting men's hair

You will need a good record of attendance and punctuality, and will need to be highly motivated with a will to succeed and an ability to work independently and as part of a team in the barbering workshop and salon.

Good dexterity, a keen interest in barbering, and a willingness to practise your skills outside of College is essential.

A good level of English (ESOL must be at least Level 1) and good interpersonal skills are essential.

A tunic and barbering kit are required for the practical salon.

You will be assessed on a continual basis.

Practical skills will be assessed on models, colleagues and friends in a realistic working environment.

Theory and knowledge will be assessed by on-ine testing, oral questions and short written assignments - you will also complete a portfolio of evidence.

You will be required to provide or purchase a barbering kit which can be purchased from the College, the approximate costs are: kit £100 and tunic £25.

You will need to provide black trousers and closed toe shoes and you will be expected to practise and develop your skills in your own time.

You may choose to continue your studies at Bolton College and upgrade your qualification by progressing on to either:

- An Apprenticeship
- Barbering Level 3
- Hairdressing Level 2
- Other course-related topics.
- Employment in the barbering industry

Other fees: £82.00
You can opt to pay these fees in monthly instalments. You can set this up during the enrolment.

Assessment

All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

Financial

Adult Learners

Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance.
