    If you are aged 19+ and have a keen interest in hairdressing, with a desire to achieve a professional qualification, then this fast moving intensive hairdressing course is for you!

    This course is delivered in our professional hairdressing studios, The Academy.
  • What you'll learn

    The course consists of both practical and theoretical aspects of hairdressing.

    You will study a variety of topics related to hairdressing including:

    • Introduction to the hair and beauty industry
    • Presenting a professional image in a salon
    • Health and safety
    • Shampoo and conditioning
    • Styling women’s hair
    • Creating a hair and beauty image
    • The art of dressing hair
    • Plaiting and twisting
    • Working with others
    • Reception duties
    • The art of colouring hair
  • Entry requirements

    You will need to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment.

    You should be highly motivated, have good dexterity skills and be able to work well as part of a team. You will require a positive character/work placement reference.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed via a range of practical assessment techniques, online tests, assignments and oral questioning.

    As this is a rigorous course of study, you will be required to complete/practice a large amount of work away from the College.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    This course is part-time for 19+ learners. You must attend 2 days per week over 36 weeks. You also have the opportunity to complete GCSE Maths or English, if you have not already achieved any of these previously.

    You will be required to purchase salon tunic, trousers and a basic equipment kit prior to the course starting.

    You can progress on to the second year of the Hairdressing Level 2 course, or alternatively you may progress onto barbering or a hair and media make-up course.

    You can opt to pay these fees in monthly instalments. You can set this up during the enrolment.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
