Hairdressing Cutting and Styling Diploma Level 2

  • Overview of the course

    If you are looking to step onto the ladder of the exciting world of hairdressing then this course is for you.

    This one year course will help you to gain and develop the skills required to work in the hairdressing industry. It will introduce you to the discipline of a working environment and at the same time, allow you to develop your artistic and creative ability.

    This course covers a broad range of hairdressing skills and knowledge. It is taught by highly qualified and enthusiastic staff in realistic working environments at our Deane Road campus.

    Training and studying with us will give you an opportunity to go as far as your talent will take you!
  • What you'll learn

    This course consists of 11 units, of which four units are generic and mandatory, and seven units are hairdressing specific.

    You will learn how to:

    - Shampoo and condition
    - Cut
    - Colour
    - Perm
    - Style and dress long and short hair
    - Promote retail products and services
    - Design and create hairdressing images.

    You will also learn about client care, reception duties, the hairdressing industry, employment laws and the importance of health and safety at work.
  • Entry requirements

    You will possess good dexterity skills and have a keen interest in hairdressing.

    You must enjoy working with other people and be committed to learning, practising and participating in hairdressing training activities.

    Basic levels of English skills are required and you will be invited to attend a pre-course discussion. Following this you maybe asked to complete a pre-course practical assessment.

  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed on a continual basis.

    Practical skills will be assessed on models, colleagues and friends in a realistic working environment.

    You will attend theory classes which will be assessed by online testing, oral questions, short written assignments and log book completion.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    You may be asked to attend a work placement to gain experience of working as part of a team and to gain knowledge of employability skills and expectations.

    You will be given opportunities to enter internal and external hairdressing competitions, as well as attending hairdressing events and trade shows.

    You will be expected to purchase a hairdressing kit and tunic.

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
