With an increase in building construction, there's also a rising demand for plumbers. A Plumbing Apprenticeship at Bolton College will allow you to gain the real skills and real experience that employers are looking for, and you'll be earning a wage too!
To continually develop the quality of our Plumbing Apprenticeships, we've introduced new Apprenticeship standards, developed by employer groups called ‘Trailblazers’. Employers such as Seddon, Gasway & Coulson Building Group know what they want from their employees so they're best placed to describe what skills, knowledge and behaviours you'll need for your career in Plumbing. This means our Apprenticeships will give you all the right skills you need to secure permanent employment or progress to further or higher education.
When you’re in College, you’ll learn in our modern Construction Block, using industry-standard tools and materials, overlooked by industry-experienced tutors; plus you'll have personal one-to-one support from your own dedicated Work Based Tutor, who'll visit you on site.
So, what does a Plumber do?
Working as a Plumber means you'll often be called out in an emergency and carry out a variety of tasks including installing and maintaining domestic hot/cold water, sanitation, drainage and rainwater systems as well as central heating systems. Plumbers don't just work in domestic settings, they're also needed on commercial sites where they're responsible for planning how and where pipes will be laid during construction. Once qualified, you can expect to earn between £15,000 to £40,000 per year and with experience and further education, you could even become an Engineer, set up your own business or take further training in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.
