  • What you'll learn

    You’ll learn the basics of your occupation at Level 2, and if you’re ready, you may also take some units of the Education & Childcare T Level programme.

    Throughout, we’ll assess your needs, identifying gaps in learning, so that at the end of your programme, you’ll have the skills and confidence to succeed on the Education & Childcare T Level.

    Your programme consists of the following elements:
    • Study of your chosen vocational subject
    • Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work
    • Work experience, giving you a taste of working life
    • English or maths, continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 or equivalent
    • Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills

    bProfessional Development & Support/b
    Working with your Tutors, Careers Coaches and Learning Development Mentor, this element of the programme will be tailored to your individual needs, supporting your progression to T Level. You’ll receive individual mentoring and personal development tutoring, including:

    • Activities to develop confidence and resilience
    • Group work to develop communication skills
    • Tutorials and seminars, including careers education
    • Study skills, with opportunities to develop reading, writing, referencing and interpretation
    • Life skills

    We’ll also provide you with additional support, if you need it.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You'll be assessed via a mixture of assignments and tasks to complete in your work placement in order to achieve the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner. You will build a portfolio of evidence that consists of work products, reflective accounts, witness testimonies and you will be observed in setting by a qualified assessor.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    You will need to try and arrange your own work placement to attend for a minimum of two days a week and bring confirmation of this on your first day. This must be in an early years setting that cares for children from birth to five years. You will also need to complete a DBS disclosure.
  • Future opportunities

    Successful completion of this programme, and achievement of your maths and English GCSE's will allow you to progress directly on to the Education & Childcare T Level, a qualification that will allow you to pursue a range of careers, and you could eventually work as a:
    • Primary School Teacher, earning up to £40,000 per year
    • Early Years Teacher, earning up to £30,000 per year
    • Nursery Manager, earning up to £32,000 per year

    As the T Level is equivalent to 3 A Levels, you could even decide to progress to university or a paid Apprenticeship, if you choose.

    You'll have your own Learning Development Mentor (LDM) and Work Placement Officer, helping you create both academic and career plans.

    Thanks to our partnership with the University of Bolton, you'll also benefit from everything the University has to offer, with a range of opportunities to build additional skills and experiences, giving you everything you need to become a FUTURE SUCCESS in whichever field you choose!

    Exposure to employers is also an integral part of this programme – we'll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-word experience of your sector, either on short work experience or an extended Industry placement.
