Creative Media Production & Technology Diploma Level 3

The UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology has been designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree-level study and employment in the media sector.
It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.
This course is the perfect starting point for students who aspire to have a career in the service industries. Students studying on our Creative media course at Bolton College will explore a wide range of media, including graphic design, motion graphics, T.V. and film production, as well as audio and games design elements. Learners will develop their technical skills in practical production enabling interaction and engagement with various audiences. In the various projects learners will also develop independent work as well as team work to build a professional portfolio that will showcase a creative journey.
Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme. The department seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector.

Topics on your Study Programme will include:
• Introduction to creative media methods and skills
• Introduction to production techniques in creative media
• The importance of understanding an audience in creative media production
• An understanding of Contextual research for creative media production
• The opportunity to explore audio production and technology
• The opportunity to explore visual production and technology
• The opportunity to explore interactive media production and technology
• The opportunity to produce a personal project and presentation in creative media production

Elements of study
Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject - 50% of your programme
• Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work
• Work experience or an Industry Placement, giving you a taste of working life

• Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills

You will be assessed by practical activities and investigations, including a final project at the end of the course.

After you have completed the programme, you could progress onto a Higher Education course at College or university, or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4). Check out opportunities at the University of Bolton by visiting www.bolton.ac.uk.
Following further study you could work as a:
• Illustrator, earning up to £40,000 per year
• Live sound engineer, earning up to £40,000 per year
• Photographer, earning up to £45,000 per year
Broadcast engineer up to £50,000 per year
