  • Overview of the course

    The course extends and deepens the knowledge and understanding of computer installation and maintenance, games design and specialist work-related focus from the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT. There is a potential for the qualification to prepare learners for appropriate direct employment in the IT Vocational sectors and is suitable for those who have decided that they clearly wish to enter a particular specialist area of work. Learners will also be introduced to Games Development, were they can use their imagination, creativity, modify and manipulate images or animations.

    Each Unit is assessed by internal assignments/practical activities/observations.


    TUTORIALS AND STUDY PROGRAMS: As well as completing your IT qualification, it will be compulsory for anyone who has not achieved a GCSE Grade C English & Mathematics to attend lessons and work towards gaining a Grade C or above in English & Mathematics. It is also mandatory for all learners to complete additional sessions on life and employability skills. During the course you will attend weekly tutorial, study program sessions to improve life and employability skills, have the opportunity to build your experience and confidence.

    This course has been designed for 16 to 18 year olds only.

    Based at the Deane Road Campus, you will attend from September 2017 to July 2018 – Monday – Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm.

  • Future opportunities

    On completion of the Level 3 qualification, learners could progress to employment in the IT sector or to higher education vocational qualifications, such as the Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC and Level 5 HND Computing with Gaming Diploma within Bolton College.
