Carpentry & Joinery Diploma Level 3

This course is for people seeking to develop a career in the construction industry as a carpenter or joiner.

You will explore both practical and theoretical aspects of the trade and be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace.

The programme has been designed to give you a broad knowledge of Carpentry and Joinery, giving you the skills to progress to further or higher study, or employment.

Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector.

Topics on your Study Programme will include:

• The Safe Use of Woodworking Machinery
• CAD Drawing
• Traditional Roofing
• Development of practical skills

Elements of study
Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject - 50% of your programme
• Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work
• Work experience or an Industry Placement, giving you a taste of working life
• Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills

Following further study you could work as a:

• Carpenter, earning up to £40,000 per year
• Wood Machinist, earning up to £28,000 per year
• Furniture Maker, earning up to £30,000
