  • Overview of the course

    This qualification is for those who are relatively new to the industry and want to develop their plumbing knowledge and skills. It provides a platform where you could progress onto an Apprenticeship programme, further study or employment.
    You will be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace.
    Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have pportunities to gain real-world experience of your
    chosen sector.

    T Level

    If you perform well on your course, and successfully complete English and maths, you could progress to our new Gold Standard T Level qualification in Construction. Learn more by visiting: www.boltoncollege. ac.uk/t-levels
  • What you'll learn

    This qualification covers units such as:
    • Principles of Plumbing Science
    • Plumbing Installation Technology.
    • Health & Safety Within the Industry
    • Basic Practical Skills

    Elements of Study
    Your programme consists of the following elements:
    • Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
    • English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
    • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance,communication and team work)
    • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
    • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills)
  • Entry requirements

    • A minimum of 4 GCSEs, graded 9-3, including English or Maths
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through multiple-choice tests and written and practical assignments..
  • Future opportunities

    After you have completed the programme, you could progress on to a Higher Education course at College or university, or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4). Check out opportunities at the University of Bolton by visiting www.bolton.ac.uk
    Following further study you could work as a:
    • Plumber, earning up to £40,000 per year
    • Kitchen and Bathroom Fitter, earning up to £35,000 per year
    • Appliance Service Engineer, earning up to £28,000 per year
