    Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
    If you are considering a career working with children and young people or adults, then this may be the course for you.
    Working in the Health & Social Care sector requires a very special kind of person. Dedicated, passionate and always willing to go the extra mile to help make a real difference to the lives of others. During this course, you will be introduced to care across the human lifespan; pregnancy and the responsible parent; play activities; health emergencies and caring for older people.
    Work experience is also an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.

    Elements of Study
    Your programme consists of the following elements:
    • Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
    • English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
    • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work)
    • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
    • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills).
  • Entry requirements

    We ask that you have two GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths. You’ll be invited for an interview and will be asked to provide a satisfactory reference showing excellent attendance at your last place of study.
    You will also need a clear DBS check.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through a variety of different methods, including written questioning, observation, witness statements and professional conversations.

    Alongside your studies, you’ll have a unique opportunity to be part of the University of Bolton’s EXCEED programme.
    This will give you a range of additional skills and experiences, and includes master classes; university visits; access to industry experts; and mentoring and support with your university application, perfect for that next step into Higher Education.

    After you have completed the course you could remain in College and progress on to the CACHE Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care.

    Alternatively, if you choose to look for paid work you could opt for a Health & Social Care Apprenticeship and work as an apprentice within Health & Social Care.

    Following further study you could work as a:
    • A high level Midwife where you could earn between£31,000 and £41,000 a year, depending on experience.
    • A Physiotherapy Assistant, earning between £15,000 to £22,000 a year.
    • An Occupational Therapy Assistant, earning between£15,000 and £23,000 a year.
