Uniformed Public Services BTEC Extended Certificate Level 2

If you are a natural-born leader, a good communicator or enjoy being part of a highly-motivated team, you could consider a career in the Public Services. This course focuses on practical participation and is designed to help you to progress on to the next level of study, with the ultimate aim of allowing you to pass the selection processes of a number of public service organisations.

Taught within a disciplined environment, you will develop your leadership and teamwork skills whilst improving your physical fitness. You’ll also get to take advantage of an extensive enrichment programme.

Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector.

Elements of study

Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject - 50% of your programme
• Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work
• Work experience or an Industry Placement, giving you a taste of working life
• Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills

• A minimum of 4 GCSEs, graded 9-3, including English or Maths

You will be assessed by practical activities, written assignments and a formal exam.

Following further study you could work as a:

• Police Officer, earning up to £41,000 per year
• Health and Safety Adviser, earning up to £70,000 per year
• British Army Officer, earning up to £42,000 per year

You'll have your own Learning Development Mentor (LDM) and Work Placement Officer, helping you create both academic and career plans.
