    Micro pigmentation has been a growing industry over the past 20 years, it is a form of cosmetic tattooing to create make up effects to enhance facial features.

    This course will provide you with knowledge of the principles of Micro pigmentation and how to practice Eyebrows, Eyeliner and Lip liner procedures within a commercial setting. You'll learn the theory behind Micro pigmentation, how to deal with clients and how to plan effective treatments. You will also learn how to reflect upon the outcomes of a treatment, provide aftercare and offer a series of treatments to achieve a desirable result.

    This in-depth Micro pigmentation study programme explores the Health and Safety relevant to Micropigmenation, colour theory, uses and effects of the procedures and you will be taught specific skills and techniques used to create this specialised procedures.

    The course is a City & Guilds recognised qualification. This enables you to practice as a therapist and supports the acquisition of public liability insurance. The course is comprehensive in its delivery of both theory and practical elements. Within the course you will need to complete case studies and assignments.

  • Entry requirements

    You need to show good communication skills and life skills.
    A good general education is essential for this demanding course.
    An excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently.
    A Level 3 Qualification in Beauty Therapy or Media Make up.
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed through assignment work, question papers and practical assessments.
    The assessment process consists of :
    Health & Safety/Anatomy & Physiology- Assignment
    Eyebrow, Eyeliner and Lip Liner- Case Studies-Practical application assessment

    Your practical skills will be assessed within a salon environment.
    The practical module requires you to complete case studies as part of each practical assessment. Case studies within a real working environment are an invaluable way to see how each treatment is implemented and will be marked as evidence criteria for the practical unit. This course requirement needs to be completed during your course.

    Additional costs to the course consist of professional uniform.
    Related additional costs may include visits and extra external professional development courses, which are payable by all students such as Level 5 bespoke qualifications. The Beauty Therapy industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Salon. No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed by the exam board. Professional work wear will include a black tunic (approx. £29) and full smart full-length black trousers and black full shoes. As part of your practical assessments, you will perform practical treatments on clients. Learners will be equally responsible for providing clients and they will incur a college fee. You will be required to carry out treatments on clients as this is an awarding body requirement. You will be expected to have a minimum of 92% attendance and all absences must be explained to your tutor with medical evidence if there is more than one week of absence. You will attend college one session each week to complete this qualification.

    When you complete the Micro pigmentation course you have an opportunity to progress onto Advanced Micro pigmentation which will open opportunities to work alongside medical practitioners along with further Level 5 courses such as micro blading.

    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, please call our helpline on 01204 482 000.

    Adult Learners

    Adult learners (19+) must bring their qualification certificates with them to enrolment. Learners will not be able to enrol without this information. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one you need):
    If you are unable to provide certificates you will be asked to complete a self declaration form when you enrol.
