    Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
    This course has been designed to introduce you to the world of business. You will study pathways including Business Administration, Business Enterprise and Working Effectively in Business.
    As part of the programme you will investigate business practices and create business ideas, alongside developing essential business and administrative skills.
    You will continue to study essential maths and English as well as employability skills.
    Work experience is an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.
  • What you'll learn

    You will study a range of business units including:
    • Presenting a Business Idea
    • Branding a Product
    • Creating a Visual Display
    • Organising a Meeting
    • Communicating with Customers
    • Personal Professional Development
    The course will be delivered by experienced tutors from the world of business. As well as classroom teaching, you will investigate local and national businesses,
    including guest speakers from these businesses and visits to their place of work. You will participate in regional and national enterprise competitions and will be given the opportunity to complete work experience.
    You will also attend industry-related work experience to develop and build your employability skills.
    Elements of study
    Your programme consists of the following elements:
    • Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme)
    • English and maths (continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent)
  • Entry requirements

    Ideally you will have a GCSE profile of mainly 3-1grades, including Maths and English and a reference from your previous school or college.
    You need to be motivated to learn and have good attendance and punctuality.
  • How will I be assessed?

    For each unit, you will complete a number of assignments and activities. These will include a mixture of:
    • Presentations
    • Observations
    • Written reports
    • Professional discussions
    • Group assessments
    • Practical activities
    • Role Plays
    • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance,communication and team work)
    • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life)
    • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living,volunteering and citizenship skills)

    Alongside your studies, you’ll have a unique opportunity to be part of the University of Bolton’s EXCEED programme.
    This will give you a range of additional skills and experiences, and includes masterclasses; university visits; access to industry experts; and mentoring and support with your university application, perfect for that
    next step into Higher Education.
    You could progress on to the OCR Diploma Level 2 or alternatively, if you choose to look for paid work, you could opt for a Business Apprenticeship and work as an apprentice Administrator.

    • An Accounts Clerk, where you can earn between £16,000 and £22,000 a year, depending on experience
