Overview of the course
This course has been designed to introduce you to the world of business, giving you the skills to progress to further study, then Higher Education or employment. As part of the programme you will investigate business practices and create business ideas, alongside developing essential business and administrative skills.
The course will be delivered by experienced tutors from the world of business. As well as classroom teaching, you will investigate local and national businesses, including guest speakers from these businesses and visits to their place of work.
Engaging with employers is also an integral part of this programme – we’ll seek to ensure that you have opportunities to gain real-world experience of your chosen sector.
What you'll learn

• Branding a Product
• Creating a Visual Display
• Organising a Meeting
• Communicating with Customers
• Personal Professional Development
Elements of study
Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your chosen vocational subject - 50% of your programme
• Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work
• Work experience or an Industry Placement, giving you a taste of working life
• Tutorial and personal development, such as healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills
GCSEs at grade 3 - 1 or above, including English and Maths and a reference from your previous school or college.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by practical activities, observations, written reports and presentations.
After you have completed the course, you’ll have the opportunity to progress to further study at College. Following this, you may decide to move on to employment, university or explore the possibility of doing a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4).
Following further study you could work as a:
• School Business Manager, earning up to £65,000 per year
• Business Development Manager, earning up to £60,000 per year
• Credit Controller, earning up to £30,000 per year
