Overview of the course
The Step into Art and Design course is a study programme designed for learners with learning difficulties and/ or disabilities under the age of 25. The art and design units will be taught on Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 1pm to 4.15pm. The course is accredited and funded by Gateway Qualifications. Learners will also be enrolled onto a Maths and English class, and complete Enterprise sessions along with tutorials
What you'll learn
You will develop and improve your knowledge and skills in art and creativity by completing practical arts and crafts and theory-based units, these are-
• Craft Skills
• Introduction to Mixed Media in 2D
• Developing Painting and drawing skills
• Self-Management skills
• Working in art and design
• Then lastly completing your own personal project
There are no entry requirements other than an interest and a commitment however you need to attend all of your classes.
How will I be assessed?
You will agree an individual learning plan (ILP) with your tutor identifying what you want and need to gain from the course. You will build up a folder of work which shows the range of skills and knowledge you have developed. You will receive supportive feedback throughout the course and track your progress through your Individual Learning Plan.
There will be no exams and you will be assessed through coursework.
